Die Idee hinter deutschland-diagonal

Was treibt mich dazu, mich auf einen 50ccm Roller zu setzen und langsam durch die Republik zu tuckern? In unseren zivilisierten und bestens organisierten Breiten ist es sicherlich nicht die Abenteuerlust. Um die zu befiedigen muss man heute schon barfuß die Antarktis durchqueren oder auf Inlinern duch die Sahara knirschen. Nein, auf dem Roller durch Deutschland zu fahren ist, gutes Sitzfleisch vorausgesetzt, geradezu ein höchst bequemer Luxus.

Es ist also nicht das Abenteuer, das ich auf dem Weg durch Deutschland suche. Es ist schlicht der Kontakt zu den Menschen, die sich mit mir dieses Land teilen, die mit mir unsere Politiker wählen, die mit mir die Erfolge der Fußball-Nationalmannschaft (sowei vorhanden) bejubeln, mit denen mich auf manchen Ebenen eine gemeinsame Kultur verbindet. Wer also sind diese Deutschen, wie denken und arbeiten Sie? Warum leben sie dort, wo Sie leben? Wie fühlen Sie sich dort? Ich möchte das wissen und wen soll ich fragen, wenn nicht die Menschen selbst?

Reiserouten durch Deutschland

In den Jahren 2008, 2009, und 2010 war ich in diesem Sinne auf den Spuren meiner “Mitbewohner” unterwegs und bin dazu mit meinem 50er-Roller vom Königsee in Bayern nach Sylt, von Weil am Rhein nach Rügen und von Kleve am Niederrhein nach Görlitz diagonal durch die Republik gefahren. Im Spätsommer 2011 ergänzte ich die Diagonalen durch die „Verbindungsfahrten“ zwischen den Landeshauptstädten Saarbrücken, Mainz, Wiesbaden, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Bremen, Hamburg, Kiel und Schwerin. Immer die Augen weit geöffnet auf der Suche nach interessanten Menschen und  spontanen Begegnungen und  Portraits.

Portraits

Entstanden sind auf den gefahrenen gut 8.000 Kilometern zirka 160 Portraits, von denen ich einige auf dieser Seite in der Galerie präsentiere. Neben den Bildern stehen jeweils die Aussagen der Menschen und der Ort an dem das Foto aufgenommen wurde.
